Gov. Pete Wilson Endorses Art Moore

Press Release

Former Governor Pete Wilson has endorsed Fourth Congressional District candidate Art Moore.

Wilson has released the following statement regarding his support for Moore's candidacy.

"Art Moore is the kind of strong young leader we need to shape the future of the Republican Party and, more important, the future of the nation. Art epitomizes the best of a new "Greatest Generation': valedictorian, Eagle Scout, West Point graduate, distinguished Army officer and decorated combat veteran. He has served his country admirably during three combat tours abroad and was awarded the Bronze Star. Now he wants to serve his country and his home region in Congress. Art knows firsthand that the world is a dangerous place and will fight for the strong clear-eyed, realistic foreign policy and national security strength that America has always looked to the Republican Party to provide.

Some few in our party, like Art's opponent, have failed to meet that Republican leadership challenge. They have failed to provide adequate care for military families or for veterans returning home from foreign battlefields. For Fourth District Republicans who share Art's commitment that such care be a priority of a grateful, wise, and honorable nation, he will be a champion in Congress.

Art also knows that the ever growing federal government kills far more private sector jobs than it creates. He is committed to our party's core belief that America's economic growth and strength depend on free markets, fair trade, restraint of regulatory excess, and lower taxes to stimulate small business job creation.

I would have been honored to have Art Moore at my side as a stalwart Republican colleague during my years in Sacramento and in the U.S. Senate supporting President Reagan's "Peace through Strength.' Please join me in supporting a strong and courageous young Republican to represent the Fourth District in Congress.

On November 4th, vote for Art Moore for Congress!"

"I am honored and humbled to receive Governor Wilson's support," said Moore. "He is a Republican and national leader that I admire, and I am working hard to be the type of candidate worthy of this honor."

Moore is facing incumbent career politician Rep. Tom McClintock.

A 4th District resident, Art graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and has a combined 14 years of Active Duty and National Guard service including 30 months deployed overseas in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He is a combat veteran and Bronze Star recipient, and is currently a Major in the Army National Guard. In a dual career, which includes eight years as a business executive, Art is currently on leave from Deloitte Consulting where he oversaw cost and efficiency improvements for federal government clients in the U.S. Intelligence Community.

The California Fourth Congressional District covers Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Mariposa, and Tuolumne Counties, and portions of Fresno, Madera, Nevada, and Placer Counties.
